Those committee members were Marcia Arnold, Jim Cox, Lisa Crumbley, and Donna Wilbanks. Lisa Crumbley noted to the committee that there was a space in the back of town hall that was being used as storage that could possibly be used as a visitors’ center. Upon the request of the Chamber Board President, Gayle Littrell, the Town Council approved the use of the back of town hall. The town provided labor and materials for the clearing of the rooms, new ceiling tiles, new doors, and cleaning of the floor. Gayle and Ronnie Littrell cleaned and restained the walls. Morris Lentz arranged that Bank Independent would provide eight leather conference room chairs, two desks, two desk chairs, a book shelf, two visitors’ chairs, and a hallway entry desk and chair. The Rogersville Volunteer Fire Department provided the conference room table. Lisa Crumbley, Susan and Frank Patterson, and Gayle and Ronnie Littrell cleaned all the furniture. The Northlake Storage Center provided a new lamp and console table. Gayle Littrell and Martha Rose Ezell loaned local art work for the first display. Products were collected by Marcia Arnold that were made within the Rogersville area to be displayed including candles, pottery, a birdhouse, and a locally produced line of products for new babies. The Center’s first day of operation was July 14, 2006. Anita Roberson, Gayle Littrell, Marcia Arnold, Susan Patterson, Jo Patterson, Willie and Carlton Kelly, acted as hosts and hostess during the evening. The center welcomed over 75 guests during the 2006 Bluegrass Festival Thursday night kickoff. The center provided guest with a cup of ice cream and a wooden spoon! Foodland and the fire department allowed the ice cream to be kept in their freezers. During the evening, the acting Mayor, and other members of the Town Council and the Chamber visited the center. The Rogersville brochure and map were provided to visitors as well as area brochures which were provided by the North Alabama Mountain Lakes Association.
